Email display name not showing on new outlook

I understand that you have updated your display name with your email provider and would like to know where to change it in the new Outlook.

For accounts that use non‑Exchange email providers (such as IMAP accounts), the behavior is slightly different. Currently, the new Outlook for Windows does not support editing the display name for IMAP accounts after the account has been added.

In the meantime, you may try the following workarounds:

Use Classic Outlook (workaround) 

• Classic Outlook still allows you to edit the “Your name” field for IMAP accounts 

At the moment, changes to the display name cannot be made directly within the app for IMAP accounts in New Outlook. I have also seen reports from multiple users experiencing the same behavior, where the sender name for IMAP accounts does not update in the new Outlook even after changes are made on the email provider side.

I also agree that your idea is a great suggestion, and it could have a positive impact on productivity especially for scenarios where users need better control over how their display name appears when sending emails. 

The best way to ensure the Outlook product team is aware of this need is to submit feedback through the official Microsoft Feedback Portal. This is where the engineering team actively reviews customer suggestions, and many features have been implemented based on community feedback. 

How to submit your suggestion: 

1. Visit the Outlook · Community   
2. Select Send feedback 
3. Provide a clear description, for example:  “Please allow users to edit the display name for IMAP accounts directly in new Outlook.”
