Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

Like how you use a Google account on the Google web browser, you will need to use a Microsoft account on the Edge browser.

    1. Start Microsoft Edge.
    2. Click Sign in.
    3. Then, use your Microsoft account credentials and sign in.

    Once signed in,

Paste this link in the Edge browser's address bar - edge://settings/profiles/importBrowsingData

Choose import data from Google Chrome - Import.

    Then, done.

Only the 'Extension Migration' will be done in the background.

To move passwords, browsing history, and bookmarks from Google Chrome to Microsoft Edge, import the browser data into Edge.

    1. Open Microsoft Edge.
    2. Select Settings and more (three dots) > Settings.
    3. Go to Profiles > Import browser data.
    4. Under Import from other browsers, select Choose what to import.
    5. In Import from, choose Google Chrome.
    6. Under Choose what to import, select:
      • Favorites or bookmarks
      • Browsing history
      • Saved passwords
      • Any other data types desired (such as addresses, settings, open tabs, etc., if available).
    7. Select Import.
    8. Wait for the notification that the import is complete, then select Done.

    After import:

    • Favorites/bookmarks can be viewed and managed at edge://favorites or via Settings and more > Favorites.
    • Passwords can be viewed and managed at edge://settings/passwords or via Settings and more > Settings > Profiles > Passwords.
    • Other imported data (addresses, personal info) can be managed at edge://settings/personalinfo.

If Edge is being run for the first time on the device, it may automatically detect Chrome as the primary browser and offer to import data during first-run setup. Confirm the prompt and choose to import favorites, history, passwords, and other data.

All importing is completed locally on the device. Data is only sent to Microsoft if signing into Edge and enabling sync or personalization.
