Every time Microsoft releases a major monthly patch, our helpdesk gets slammed with calls about broken printer drivers or software glitches because everyone updates at the exact same time. I want to split our staff into a pilot testing group, an early-adoption ring, and a broad production ring using Windows Update for Business (WUfB). What is the best practice for timing these rings so we catch bugs before they hit the whole company?

    Hello Neha Gupta,

To mitigate update-related disruptions, implement a phased deployment strategy using Windows Update for Business to stagger releases across pilot, early-adoption, and broad production rings. This approach allows you to identify and isolate potential conflicts before they affect your entire organization. Configure these deferral periods via Group Policy under the Windows Update for Business folder, specifically using the Select when Quality Updates are received policy to control update timing. Supplement this setup by monitoring the official Windows Health Dashboard for known issues, which provides the necessary visibility to maintain infrastructure stability during monthly patch cycles.
