Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
Hi Dawn Tripp,
I understand that you need these verification emails to complete password resets and identity checks, so it is very inconvenient when they do not arrive. Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so contributors cannot check your mailbox delivery logs or release messages from the Outlook.com system.
To narrow this down, could you please confirm these details?
- Are you able to receive normal emails from other external senders, or are only verification/password reset emails missing?
- Does this happen with all third-party services, or only one specific company or website?
- Have the senders received any bounce-back message after sending the verification email?
In the meantime, please check these Outlook.com settings from a browser at Outlook.com:
- Check Junk Email, Other, Deleted Items, Archive, and use Search with the sender name or subject.
- Go to Settings > Mail > Rules and Sweep, and remove any rule that may move, delete, or forward these messages.
- Go to Settings > Mail > Junk email, confirm the sender/domain is not blocked, then add the sender or domain to Safe senders and domains.
- Check your Microsoft storage and mailbox storage, because a full mailbox can prevent new mail from being received: https://onedrive.live.com/?v=managestorage and Outlook mailbox storage.
- If this is for a Microsoft account verification code, also check the official verification-code checklist here: Troubleshoot Microsoft verification code issues.
If normal external emails arrive but only one service’s verification emails do not, the next step is to ask that service to resend the code, confirm the exact email address used, or offer another verification method, because the message may not be reaching Outlook.com from their side.
I hope this helps narrow down whether the issue is with Outlook.com receiving mail generally or with specific verification senders.
