    Dear @Harley Myer-Parker,

Thank you for reaching out, and I completely understand how concerning this situation is especially given the importance of the recording for a legal matter.

Based on how Microsoft Teams manages meeting recordings, I’d like to clarify what may have happened and guide you through the available recovery options.

When a Teams meeting is recorded, the file is typically stored in either:

    • The meeting organizer’s OneDrive (for standard meetings)
    • The associated SharePoint site (for channel meetings)

This means the organizer or in some cases the person who started the recording is the owner of the file and has control over its access and deletion.

If the recording was deleted, there is still a possibility to recover it, depending on the current status:

    • If the recording was recently deleted: It should still be available in the Recycle Bin of the organizer’s OneDrive or the SharePoint site. The organizer can restore it by accessing the Recycle Bin and selecting the recording file.
    • If the recording or transcript has already been permanently deleted from the Recycle Bin, it can no longer be recovered or accessed by end users unless your organization has a retention policy in Microsoft Purview that preserved the file for compliance purposes.

At this stage, I recommend contacting the meeting organizer or your IT administrator to confirm whether the recording can still be restored or whether a retention policy applies. If you’re unsure who the Global Admin is within your organization, you can find guidance on locating them here: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support
