Legacy Outlook for Mac is now deleting threads when emails are replied or forwarded

I am using Legacy Outlook for Mac, and version 16.110. When I either reply to, or forward an email….the entire email thread does not carry through to my outgoing email. I have tried all suggested checks and options (eg outlook/settings/composing, toggling conversation view on/off etc).

Hi Tony Grey

I tested this on my side using Legacy Outlook for Mac version 16.109, and I did not experience the same behavior. The full email thread was still included normally when replying or forwarding.

Could you please let me know if you only started noticing this recently, or if it has been happening for a longer time? If the issue started after a recent update, you may also consider rolling back to an earlier Outlook version temporarily to see whether the behavior changes.

+Open any Office app > Help > Check for Updates > clear the checkbox for “Automatically keep Microsoft Apps up to date.”

+Quit all Office apps.

+Go to Applications > choose Microsoft Outlook > Move to Trash.

+Install the 16.108 or 16.109 package from this link: Update history for Office for Mac - Office release notes | Microsoft Learn

If the issue persists after that, I would recommend raising a support ticket with Microsoft Support for further investigation. Please note that creating a support ticket typically requires Global Administrator permissions. If you are an end user or do not have this role, please contact your organization’s admin for assistance.

For further instructions, you can follow this guide: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn.

Please understand that this is a public peer-to-peer community forum. While moderators and community members can share guidance and experiences, we do not have access to the advanced diagnostic tools or backend systems required to investigate this further.

Thank you again for your understanding and patience.

Superb, thank you. That solution worked, and yes, was only a new error that arose as part of the recent update
