Try these steps in order on the Dell Pro 14:
- Check physical camera cover or slider
- Look closely at the bezel around the camera above the screen for a small slider or shutter.
- Slide it fully open; even a partially closed shutter can cause a “camera is covered” message.
- Check keyboard camera key / Fn key
- Inspect the function keys (F1–F12) for a camera icon.
- Press that key once. If nothing changes, press Fn + [camera key] to toggle the webcam on.
- Test the camera in the Windows Camera app
- Select Start > Camera and see if the preview works.
- If the camera works here but not in other apps, adjust the settings in the specific app.
- Check Windows updates and restart
- Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
- If available, install any Optional updates related to the camera, then restart the device.
- After restart, open Start > Camera again and test.
If the problem persists after these steps, test the camera with another app and, if needed, run the camera troubleshooter from Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Camera > Run.
