Scroll Glitch in Microsoft Teams Desktop App When Viewing Workflow Cards

Hi everyone,

I’m encountering a persistent and frustrating UI issue in the Microsoft Teams desktop app (new client). Whenever I scroll up in a channel that contains multiple Workflow Cards (e.g., those posted via Power Automate), the scrollbar starts behaving erratically—jerking, jumping, or even looping back and forth rapidly.

This glitch seems to trigger once the cards load into view and makes it nearly impossible to follow threads or review older messages in channels that rely on automation.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Confirmed I’m on the latest version of Teams (new client)

Cleared Teams cache

Verified the issue also occurs in the web and mobile app versions

The issue consistently occurs in threads that contain multiple cards and appears to be related to how these cards are rendered within the Teams channel. Several of my colleagues have experienced the same problem, even in the web and mobile versions of Teams.

I've reported this in the Microsoft Community here. A Microsoft Agent suggested that the issue might be related to Power Automate and recommended using simpler Adaptive Card layouts or minimizing Workflow Card usage. However, the cards we use are already very minimal—mostly just text and a single link per card—and thread activity is relatively low.

I've also attached a screen recording to illustrate the issue. In the video, you can see that I only scrolled up two or three times for a second, and then the view begins to jerk, jump, or even loop back and forth rapidly—without any further scrolling or interaction on my end.

Based on this, I believe it’s more likely a rendering or display issue in Teams itself rather than something caused by the Power Automate workflow.

This is the same issue many people have been having this month. It keeps being tossed off to the power automate forum, but that forum is a mess, you cannot even find recent topics as the only filter is 'relevance'.

There was this thread, but for some reason it got retired - though I have most in my email history.
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/ce46133d-2508-4a0d-9c5d-b50896179427/teams-like-skype-keeps-scrolling-up-on-its-own?forum=msteams-all&referrer=answers

One poster stated this just before it was retired:

Update: We raised a support case for our tenant, they have acknowledged the bug and a fix is currently being deployed. All clients should be patched in 2-4 weeks. I did feed back this is an unacceptable time period, queried options on expediting, and have requested the client version number so we know when we're patched. Possible interim solution: Some members have reported success using the web app in a Firefox browser.

However I have not seen it come up as a fixed issue in my Admin feed nor is it in the Service Health.

    Hello Cindy Novera,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the detailed description of the issue you're experiencing with the Microsoft Teams desktop app.

Based on your report and similar cases discussed in the Microsoft Community, this issue appears to be related to how Adaptive Cards are rendered in the Teams client, particularly when multiple cards load simultaneously.

I understand your cards are minimal in design, the rendering engine in Teams may still encounter performance bottlenecks that result in erratic scroll behavior. I try to research, and below are a few steps you can try may can improve this situation:

    1. Minimize Workflow Card Usage
Reduce the number of cards posted in a single thread or channel, if possible.
    2. Use Simpler Adaptive Card Layouts
Even minimal cards can benefit from layout simplification. Avoid nested containers or advanced formatting.
    3. Switch to the Web App Temporarily
Some users report improved behavior when using Teams in a browser rather than the desktop client.
    4. Submit Feedback to the Product Team
You can share your experience directly with our engineering team via the Microsoft 365 Feedback HubSend Feedback→ Describe your proposal in detail

Please accept my apologize that this issue is often categorized as a Power Automate, related concern, many users including yourself have correctly identified it as a rendering issue within Teams itself. Unfortunately, messages posted by Power Automate flows (including Adaptive Cards) are treated as app-generated content and cannot be deleted, even by channel owners or flow creators.

We appreciate your patience and the effort you've already made to troubleshoot this. Your feedback is valuable and helps us improve the Teams experience for everyone.

    Best Regards.
